Brad Pitt to play conservationist in new filmHollywood superstar Brad Pitt has teamed up with director Darren Aronofsky to develop an adventure thriller 'The Tiger' and is likely to take the lead role.

Pitt, 45, is reportedly slated to play a conservationist in the new film, which deal with the issue of human encroachment on the tigers' habitat in the Siberian plain.

The film shows how threatened out of their habitat one tiger turns on the intruders and starts hunting townspeople.

A conservationist game warden must face down the tiger. It is a fight that only one of them can win, Variety reported.

The movie, based on a non-fiction book yet to be released by John Vaillant, has been optioned by Focus Features and is being scripted by Guillermo Arriaga. 'The Tiger' which will be produced by Pitt's Plan B and Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures, is being developed as a potential starring vehicle for Pitt. Pitt and Arriaga are working together after 'Babel'.

"This is the first time I have adapted a screenplay, since I have previously only written original screenplays," said Arriaga, who previously worked with Focus on the drama '21 Grams'. "I chose to adapt this story, first, because I have a profound love for the outdoors and the intense tension between man and nature which the book reflects; and, second, because of the great privilege of working with such accomplished filmmakers as Darren Aronofsky, Brad Pitt, and James Schamus," he said.
