This year 15 films will compete in the Official Section, but out of competition, Fernando Trueba in The Dance of Victory and Rodrigo Garcia, son of Gabriel García Márquez, with Mother and child.
San Sebastian will have in attendance other actors like Robert Duvall, Chiara Mastroianni, Miranda Otto, Brenda Blethyn, Ricardo Darin, Carmen Machi and Lola Dueñas Ariadna Gil. Brad Pitt and Tarantino will be at the opening of the Festival.
The opening day will also include the Canadian director Atom Egoyan, who with producer Ivan Reitman presents Chloe, the film that is competing in the Official Section. This section also will battle for the Golden Shell filmmakers Christophe Honoré, François Ozon, Juan Jose Campanella, Matthias Glasner, Jeon Soo-il, Pelin Esmer, Ana Kokkinos, Lu Chuan, Aaron Schneider, Bruno Dumont and Mohammad Rasoul. Are added to the list Isaki Lacuesta Spanish with Convicts, Javier Rebollo with Woman without piano and Alvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro with Me, too.
Again a range of genres and film looks, from more traditional approaches to be the most radical, this edition will feature 27 world premieres, 5 international (films released only in his country) and 12 Europeans. To decide the official prize list will be Laurent Cantet Mexican actor Daniel Gimenez Cacho, actresses Pilar Lopez de Ayala and Leonor Silveira and directors Bong Joon-ho, John Madden and Samira Makhmalbaf.
