Where'd Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie get those baby names?

July 19, 2008 |11:45 | Gossips  By : Team X

Unusual celebrity baby names are in the news again with this weekend's birth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins. Not Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane, as had been initially and erroneously reported a few weeks ago. Instead, Angelina and Brad named their new son and daughter Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Some readers have been wondering where they got those names.  According to "The Baby Name Bible" author Linda Rosenkrantz, interviewed at People.com:

1. Shaking the Family Tree: Knox is a Scottish-English-Irish surname and the middle name of Brad's grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse. Léon is the name of Angelina's great-great grandfather.

2. The X-Factor: The Jolie-Pitts' two other sons, Maddox and Pax, have an x in their first names.

Brad Pitt, Inglorious Bastard?

July 10, 2008 |11:37 | Gossips  By : Team X

Buried in the fourth paragraph of The Hollywood Reporter's update on Quentin Tarantino's long-delayed Inglorious Bastards is the news that "Brad Pitt's name has surfaced" in talks regarding the World War II flick's ensemble cast. Decide for yourself just exactly what that means; I imagine that it indicates the globe-trotting serial adopter is interested in joining the project. Sounds cool -- let's just hope he doesn't invite pals George Clooney and Matt Damon along and turn it into Ocean's Seventeen.

According to DeadlineHollywoodDaily, Tarantino is shopping the project, a remake of Enzo Castellari's 1978 cult hit of the same name (re-releasing on DVD on July 29th) around to several major studios, much to the chagrin of longtime backer Harvey Weinstein. Stay tuned -- this one could get interesting.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: Bidding war begins for first pictures of 'Brangelina' twins

June 30, 2008 |12:20 | Gossips  By : Team X

As Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt hide out from the prying cameras of the paparazzi in the South of France ahead of the birth of their twins, the bidding war for the first sanctioned pictures of their unborn children has already broken all records.
In New York media circles, there have been reports recently that agents for the Hollywood stars have been offered up to $15 million for the photographs and that the eventual price could top $20 million for a worldwide deal.

The new benchmark could soon make it as lucrative for stars to give birth as to make movies.

The couple are expected to donate the funds to one of the charitable causes they support - as they did with the money they received for the first images of daughter Shiloh in 2006.

Representatives of People, America's biggest-selling magazine which bought those pictures, said the $4.1 figure widely reported then was exaggerated.

People and its rival OK!, the two US celebrity magazines with the biggest budgets, have declined to comment on negotiations for photographs of the twins. Insiders have said that talk of $15 million is too high at this stage, but the bidding is still underway.

There is no doubt that the final tally will shatter the current record set earlier this year when Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sold the US rights for their twins' pictures to People and the European rights to OK!. That overall package was reportedly worth $7 million.

Ms Jolie and Mr Pitt, often referred to simply as Brangelina, are not only bigger names than Ms Lopez and Mr Anthony. But also, OK! is said to be determined to win an exclusive deal this time.

Angelina Jolie Is Tough to Love for James McAvoy

June 28, 2008 |11:16 | Gossips | Movies   By : Team X

Angelina Jolie apparently knows how to dole out the tough love. During the pre-release hype for her new movie Wanted, co-star James McAvoy was asked what it was like to do a romantic scene with a woman many consider the most beautiful in the world. His answer may surprise you.

Millions of men may fantasize about filming a love scene with the enchanting Jolie, but judging from the experience of someone who has, they might want to think twice before lip-locking with her. McAvoy recently told In Touch it was "not very nice" kissing Jolie while the cameras were rolling. "It was awkward, sweaty and not very nice,” he says. “There was angst involved in that, as always. I don’t think [Jolie's partner] Brad Pitt felt threatened for one moment.”

Jolie and McAvoy both found love on a movie set, but not with each other. Jolie met and fell in love with Pitt while filming the 2005 blockbuster Mr. and Mrs. Smith. McAvoy and his wife, actress Anne-Marie Duff, also met when they co-starred in a BBC drama called Shameless!

Industry experts predict Wanted will hold its own against the much-hyped animated film Wall-E, but will probably not top this weekend's box office. DeadlineHollyoodDaily.com estimates the Pixar/Disney flick could rake in as much as $70 million this weekend on back of solid reviews, which would put it at or near the top of the list for summer blockbusters.

Meanwhile, Universal is hoping Wanted will gross $35 million to $40 million from the 3,175 venues it's showing in over the weekend. The film may appeal to both men and women because of Jolie’s strong character, which takes it one step beyond action-adventure to potential "date movie" territory, expanding its box-office appeal.
